Performance Tester is a performance test tool that measures the performance of an IT system by generating load on it and measuring the response times of the system under load. The Performance Tester generates load by simulating actions on the system of multiple simultaneous users. The main measures of performance are transaction response times and throughput. Each user is simulated by a thread running a simple program called a script. In Performance Tester, scripts are created by recording the user actions that are to be tested. At the end of the recording, the script is generated automatically. However, in some scenarios where the use-case demands downloading of a file (probably the application could open a new browser tab), the application under test might get into a “Not Responding” state and display the following security warning. This warning might be seen when the browser is invoked by the recording action of the Performance Tester. How do we overcome such security warnings related to the certificate validations? Note that the performance tester installs its own Java (IBM Java) and is in the install folder of the performance tester (for example, C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP). You must check whether you have updated Java on the machine where the performance tester is installed. Also, you must check the environment variables and ensure that the PATH variable is pointing to the correct IBM Java. Alternatively, you can navigate to the Control Panel > Java > Security tab and add the URL of the website (application under test) in the Exception Site List field. This task would be required only if the Java update on the machine doesn’t address the problem. I am not really in favor of using metrics to measure our success. I am a hard working individual, and I think that metrics cannot take that into consideration. If results are what you value, then you need to think about having machines instead of humans. I am not saying that you should fire us, but at least, think about our emotions. We work harder than anyone, yet you still value the metrics over all of our hard work, that is just sad.
